Building Closure Leave for 8/9/2024

With the announcement that buildings would be closed until 10:00 AM, we wanted to send a reminder of how to process Building Closure Leave in Kronos.

Building closure leave is paid leave that is only available to regular employees. Temporary employees are not eligible for building closure leave.

Each 10/11-month (only 220 and 260-day employees are affected) and 12-month employees whose schedule is affected by the late opening should have the appropriate hours of Building Closure Leave added to their timecard (ex: if an employee’s normal schedule is 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, they should not receive any leave. If their normal schedule is 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, they should have 2 hours of leave applied).

Since ACPS no longer practices leave washing, building closure leave should be applied to timecards even if the employee had to work during the closure. 

Since exempt employee’s pay would not be impacted by building closure leave, it is not necessary to add it to their timecards.

Start of School Year Reminders/Updates

It is that time of year again! Welcome to the 2024 – 2025 School Year!

Here are a few important reminders/updates as we get the school year started:

New Hires

  • New hires will be added to Kronos based on their hire date and will be able to access their timecard at that time:
    • New 200-Day Teachers have hire dates of 8/10/2024
      • 8/10/2024 is the first day of the pay period. This is NOT the first day the employee is expected to report for work.
    • New 182-Day TAs have hire dates of 8/15/2024
    • Any non-exempt new hires with a mid-week start date must have the “New Hire – No Shortfall” code added to the timecard for any system-generated shortfall.
    • All non-exempt employees must have a schedule added upon import to Kronos.
  • To view start dates based on calendars, please review the 2024-25 Kronos Calendars

Employee Transfers

  • Most Teachers and TAs moving to new schools will have their records updated to the new location starting on 8/10/2024.

2024 – 2025 Supplemental Pay Scale

This year’s supplemental pay scale is available for review: 2024-2025 Supplemental Pay Scale. New rates start on 8/12/2024.

A note from our Compensation Manager, Sunny Thies-Moon:

“To have consistency in sub and temp rates, we have linked the rates with the appropriate position’s pay grades (Non-VRS) and teacher’s step scales (Non-VRS step 0). The new supplemental pay scale rates are effective from 8/12/2024. These adjustments are necessary to maintain the consistency of our compensation.

For the week of 07/01/2024, sign-off will occur on Monday, 07/01/2024 at 11:00 AM.

Kronos Outage (Intermittent)

As many of you may have noticed, Kronos is currently down or responding slowly for some users. We have contacted our partners with Gov IT, and they have begun troubleshooting the issue. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please instruct your employees if they cannot log in to clock in/out to note the time for manual entry when the system is back online.

We will keep you all updated when Kronos is back online.

Kronos Sign-Off Updates for the Weeks of 6/17/24 & 7/1/24

Due to the upcoming holidays on 6/19/2024 & 7/4/2024, we will have to alter our normal 1:00 PM sign-off timeline.

For the week of 6/17/2024, sign-off will take place on Monday, 6/17/2024 at 11:00 AM.

For the week of 7/1/2024, sign-off will take place on Monday, 7/1/2024 at 11:00 AM.

Please have all payroll week sign-off checks done no later than 10:45 AM on each day. Moving up the timeline will help ensure that paychecks are received without any delays due to the holidays.

2024 Summer School

We will be hosting four training/working sessions to get the Summer School schedules programmed into Kronos. Sessions will be hosted at either COB McIntire or Center 1

The first 15-20 minutes will include a demonstration of how the schedules must be set up and a working session to get everything programmed will follow. Once everything is programmed, you are free to go!

Any timekeeper whose school is hosting a Summer School session MUST sign up.
Please bring your school’s staffing list!
